It’s A Pretty Simple Life

Uncategorized

Happy October! Its officially fall and you know what that means… Its PSL season! No, not Pumpkin Spice Latte, Pretty Simple Life. Since June we have been working towards sharing ItsAPrettySimpleLife.com with the world, and we’re so excited that the moment is finally here!

Keanna + Monti

Let’s start with introducing ourselves. We’re Keanna and Monti. Like many of you, we’re all about the finer things in life: Trader Joe’s wine, Target runs, Sunday Funday, trashy novels and regrettable TV shows! Twelve years ago we met during our first year at University of Virginia. Funnily enough, prior to living one floor apart we actually lived about 10 minutes down the road from each other but our paths never crossed. But once we finally did meet we became fast friends and lifelong besties. Over the past decade we’ve been together through breakups, breakdowns and breakthroughs, so why not take on blogging!

One of the many things we have in common is our tendency to make things a lot harder than they need to be; we over analyze and we complicate things that should be easy. “You’re over thinking it!” is something we constantly have to remind ourselves of.

Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated.” – Confucius

We both turned thirty this year and we made a choice to embrace the little things, enjoy the simple everyday pleasures and to celebrate the small wins. As cliché as it sounds, we decided to live our best lives. This blog is a big part of that. ItsAPrettySimpleLife.com is a place for us to share with you the things we love, the things we enjoy and the things that make our lives a little prettier and a little simpler. We like to refer to those things as Treats, Eats and Cheats.

The Treats:

What are treats? Travel, wine, cocktails, a good book and a bath bomb… the big and small indulgences. But we also want to explore ways to #treatyoself in non material ways. Inspiration, motivation, mindfulness, discovering and learning something new, those treats are just as important as the more tangible ones.

The Eats:

Some people say that they are “eating to live instead of living to eat.” We don’t like those people. Most of the time, we take great pleasure in a delicious meal, but don’t have the time nor inclination to make one. While we love to go out for a great meal at an amazing restaurant, a lot of the time, we (cough cough mostly Monti cough) are trying to create Instagram-ready meals at home.

The Cheats:

We like nice pretty things, they make us happy… but the way our bank accounts are set up, we can’t always afford them! Some of the treats and eats we love fall a little (or a lot) outside of our current price range. We’re all about being bougie on a budget and that’s where The Cheats come in. DIY’s, thrift store upcycling, IKEA hacks, jet setting on the cheap, you’ll find that and more in the Cheats section.

Life is simple, its just not easy!

We hope you’ll stop by on the regular to check out all the new content we have coming up. This blogging thing is new for us, but we’d love for you to join us on the journey. Life can be overwhelming and chaotic at times, but loving and living the little things and embracing more of what makes you happy… that’s Pretty Simple!

I'm the crafty half of It's A Pretty Simple Life. I love a quick and easy DIY and live for a good home décor hack. I like to consider myself an amateur wine critic, but professional wine drinker; give me a bottle (or box) of Zinfandel and I'm a happy girl! There's a quote that I love that says "Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated". My goal with this blog is to embrace the simple, to focus on the small things that bring a little bit of beauty and joy to an otherwise overwhelming and chaotic life. I hope you stay tuned and come along for the journey! xo, keanna
