Before We Jump into the Men’s Winter Style Gift Guide…
Every now and then, I want to take a moment to reflect on the overall project. Blogging about blogging…how meta. Keanna and I started this site because we shared so many things with each other that brought us joy that we figured that we could start a website where we could also bring you joy.
Our goal was to be unique and to let our voice come through. We never wanted to just do what everyone else was doing. We heard about this thing called “blogmas” where bloggers try to create content every day between December 1st and Christmas. We love to push ourselves, so we jumped on board.
The reaction has been interesting. We never wanted to be a blog where we are only selling things, so why do we have so many gift guides?! Well, we want to provide value and delight you as a reader. Our numbers for these posts are better than average, and people are commenting on the blog and to us in real life for giving them ideas.
Now, is this something that we would do again? Well, I am not going to speak for Keanna, but I know I will. Getting a text from my mama saying that she not only read but enjoyed my personal wishlist makes it worthwhile. And the gift guides that are the most unique get the most attention, our Pinterest numbers are through the roof for our boards for teachers, herbs/spices, and men’s outerwear. This is ground that is not well-trodden.
All this is to say, that: a) this will be our last gift guide for 2016 but we have more blogmas content, b) I am genuinely curious to know if they provided value or delighted you, and c) if you have any topics you want us to cover in the future. This site is for you, our beautiful readers, so feel free to always leave critiques and compliments.
Now here is what you came for (in Riri’s voice)… Part Gift Guide and Part Capsule focused on Men’s Winter Style.
Men’s Winter Style – The Basics
Round frame sunglasses – Am I the only one who feels weird wearing a parka and shades? Temperature has nothing to do with brightness, but still feels weird. Anyhoo, these bad boys are sleek and classic and less than $30. I am constantly losing sunglasses, so I ordered two pairs.
Men Heattech V-Neck T-Shirt – Uniqlo is one of few brands that I “Stan” for. Their Heattech items are insanely warm. They use some sort of black magic where the heat from your body is trapped keeping you warm without making you sweaty. I stock up on everything in the section every year.
Lacoste V-Neck T-Shirt Set – I do not care about labels for the sake of showing off, but rather for the quality that brand represents. I only pay a premium if I end up saving money in the long-term. Lacoste shirts look and feel good and survive many, many washes without fading. Definitely worth the investment versus cheap t-shirt that you’ll have to keep replacing.
Mens Winter Gloves – Just like in the real world, I almost forgot the gloves. I am constantly losing my gloves, so I started ordering them from AliExpress. Called the Amazon of China, you can find some great deals there. I ordered three sets of basic gloves that I love for the price of one here. Will note that shipping does take longer, but if you account for it, then it isn’t a big deal.
Men’s Winter Style – Shoes
PS BY PAUL SMITH Lace-Up Shoes – Simple and Sleek. Nice shoes to change into when you get to the office.
Timberland 6 Inch Premium Boot – Who doesn’t love Tims?
UGG Men’s Roskoe Duck Boot, Dark Chestnut – I want these mainly because they make me think of the world’s greatest song. Here is a hint to what it is “the boots with the fur…”
Men’s Winter Style – For Those With An Understated Look
‘The Stars/Glamour’ Trim Fit Wool Tuxedo – As a professional fundraiser, I am going to suggest that you go to more galas. But your summer Tux is not going to cover it. You need one made with wool.
Men’s Cashmere V-Neck Sweater – Is there anyone who has too many cashmere sweaters? Uniqlo almost always has them for under 100 dollars.
Men’s Winter Style – For Those With a More Eclectic Look
Reason Men’s Patches Camo-Print Parka Jacket with Hood – I am not someone who is fashion-forward at all. My style is staid and comfortable. But I LOVE this jacket.
ASOS Super Skinny Blazer with Floral Design – I have several friends I could see this on.
ASOS Drop Crotch Pants With Taping In Camo – Same with these.
