Seven Things We Felt at Montréal Pride 2016

Canada, Montreal, Travel, Treats
Beautiful People with a Beautiful Message at Montréal Pride 2016

Introduction to Montréal Pride 2016 Like many Americans, I have been looking lovingly at Canada recently, which reminded me that I needed to do a post on Montréal Pride 2016. This post has been percolating in the back of my mind for months now. As you may have read on Keanna’s lovely post, we went to Montreal over the summer with our dear friend, J. A great time was had by all (except for the two days I was so effing sick). The highlight and point of the trip was Montréal Pride 2016 aka Fierté Montreal. Below you will find some feelings that we had about the amazing experience. Montréal...

Charlottesville Wine Weekend Day 2- A Pretty Simple Getaway

Charlottesville, Travel, Treats, VA

Charlottesville is the place where my love affair with wine began…. My friend Ann and I would get $3 bottles of Pinot Grigio from CVS and sip while we watched episodes of Forensic Files before going bar hopping. Wine was a cheap buzz and we were broke college students so drugstore vino was good enough for us! But now we’re older, wiser and less broke and our standards for wine have vastly improved. We drink $7 bottles now! And we go wine tasting- because its the classy and adult way to day drink! In the beginning of November we returned to our roots to celebrate Ann’s 30th birthday with a Charlottesville Wine...

Charlottesville Wine Weekend – Day 1

Ann, Monti and Keanna at Barboursville Winery

Introduction to our Charlottesville Wine Weekend Ann is a friend to the site – she took many of the pictures that will be used to showcase our Charlottesville Wine Weekend. She is also a friend to the Keanna and me. All three of us met individually then learned about our connections to each other. Our friendship has endured so many individual low points and lifted each other through so many individual peaks. I should note the picture above is because Ann is a proud member of the “Basic Betty Club” and LOVES fall. Few things make her happier than the changing of the leaves. For Ann’s birthday, she wanted to go...

Four Reasons To Visit Montreal

Summer, Travel, Treats

“It’s Paris without the jet lag… it’s Europe without the price tag!” Those are a few of the things I heard when I told people I was taking a trip to Montreal this summer. What I discovered on my trip was that Montreal is a completely unique city all its own and has a lot to offer without comparing it to anywhere else. The city is a dichotomy of sights and sounds. The modern skyscrapers are accompanied by old world architecture. French and English are used interchangeably within the same sentence. If you want to experience Paris without the jet lag, take the red eye and sleep on the plane....

Review of Toronto’s Smith Restaurant

Toronto, Travel, Treats
Sidewalk Chalkboard Sign and Facade of the Smith Restaurant in Toronto. Sign saying Smith in the window.

Hey y’all, During my trip to Toronto in August 2016, I loved many aspects of staying Downtown in the Church and Wellesley Village neighborhood (aka the gayborhood), but there was a surprising lack of high-quality dining options. So, I was lucky to find Smith Restaurant, which was not even 5 minutes from the apartment. This restaurant was heaven-sent.  I am not the only person who was impressed by this place. There is a 4-star rating on TripAdvisor, 4.4-star rating on OpenTable, and 3.5-star rating on Yelp. I was surprised by the lower rating on Yelp, but it seems that their newest ratings are higher and most people seem to be complaining...
